RMA passing score: why 70 isn't 70%

AMT requires a scaled score of 70 on a 0 to 100 scale to pass the RMA, and its handbook is explicit that 70 is not a percentage. You see your score on screen as soon as the exam ends.

Why 70 isn't a percentage

AMT reports results on a scaled score from 0 to 100, with 70 as the passing mark. Scaling makes different versions of the exam equivalent, so the number of correct answers needed to reach 70 is not simply 70% of the questions. Unscored pretest items are also mixed in without being marked.

When you get your score

Your score appears on screen when you finish and the proctor gives you a printed report. AMT does not give scores by phone, fax or email.
